5th EANNORM Workshop "Measurement strategies in NORM"
December 4th – 6th, 2012, Dresden, Germany: Since categorizing and radiological assessment of NORM are major duties of radiation protection officers and the basis for any work activity with NORM, special attention has to be paid to it. In this context, measurements have to be carried out to analyse the radionuclide content of NORM and the relevant parameters of the exposure pathways which have to be taken into account for both, the employees and the public. The applied measurement strategies must comply with quite diverse radionuclide compositions of NORM and different types of NORM (e.g. scale, bulk material, dust). In practice, different measuring equipments and methods are used. Some of them have been discussed in former EANNORM workshops, but further exchange of experiences is desired among the members of EANNORM and other experts. Presently the scientific program of the 5th EAN-NORM workshop will be prepared. The call for papers you will find here.

NORM Measurements and Strategies, Building Materials"
November 29th - December 1st, 2011, Hasselt, Belgium: During this 4th workshop of the EANNORM, examples of the different approaches regarding to the main topics of the workshop have been in the focus of several presentations and discussions. According to the needs of easy to handle methods and solutions for the practical implementation of the respective law, they focused on a practical point of view. Case studies for different NORM industries with emphasis on practical approaches for measurement and measurement strategies as well as for transportations of NORM have been the major topics. In addition, the participants had the possibility to visit an exhibition of measurement devices designed for NORM assessment and Radiation Protection in the NORM industry.
